You might look at the title of this and immediately the you've got the image of Asher Roth telling you how much he loves it and how he danced his ass off while some chick was naked; but reality is kind of different.
Don't get me wrong college is fun, but that isn't all it is. Not everything is fun and games and the reality is that sometimes you need to sit up and face facts.
Recently I've been going through some shit, with no-one to unload onto I've allowed it to build up and affect aspects of my life is shouldn't have anything to do with. I really don't want to end up a fuck up so my ideas are slowly being backed up, you know what they say 'it's never too late to be what you might have been' or something like that anyway.
College is all good for an education and the occasional out of hand party but there are so many things that college can never teach you. They don't teach you how to love somebody or how to be loved. They don't teach you how to be famous, or rich. They don't even teach you how to be poor. They don't teach you how to walk away from a bad situation because let's face it no-one listens during drug and sex talks. They don't teach you how to read another persons mind, or even give you the slightest clue how to really understand and read people. They don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying, or someone that just lost someone or something they can never get back.
I reckon it's safe to say, that other than trying to find x or standard deviation, and what happens when you smoke too much and all about organic chemistry they don't teach you a lot worth knowing.
Imagine you were thrown out into the world alone at this exact moment; do you reckon you'd survive? I know we all like to plead independence and act like adults but at the end of the day if we were all alone and we didn't the social skills to interact where the hell would we be? We would be the awkward turtle in the corner or the kid that always stood out, but in the wrong ways.
Life is pretty much impossible to figure out, but a little stepping stone wouldn't hurt would it?
